Issues on Patent and Copyright Laws In China Essay -- China Patent Cop
Issues on Patent and Copyright Laws In China This site contains information on China's patent and copyright law. It goes on to discuss some ethical issues about China's lack of law enforcement on intellectual property protection. History of Patent System Chinaââ¬â¢s patent system can be traced back to the late Qing Dynasty when China began signing international treaties. For example, on August 18, 1903, China and the United States agreed on a treaty on navigation and commerce. The treaty provided for a ââ¬Å"reciprocal patent-granting arrangement whereby citizens of one contracting party could apply for and secure patent rights for their inventions in the other contracting party.â⬠1 After the Qing Dynasty was over thrown in 1911, the Nationalist government created the Interim Charter on Rewarding Industrial and Artistic Products. And soon thereafter, in 1944, the Patent Law of modern sense was created. Although the Patent Law was adopted in China, the Nationalist government was forced to Taiwan and thus the Patent Law had no effect in mainland China. In 1949, the new government adopted the Provisional Regulations on the Protection of the Invention Rights and Patent Rights, whose purpose was to encourage invention. In 1978, t he government reissued the Regulations on Awards for Technical Improvements and the Regulations on Awards for Inventions which were first issued in 1963 and abolished soon after. Then in 1985 the Patent Law was introduced. Chinaââ¬â¢s Patent Law went through a critical revision in 1992. Amendments were focused on the areas pharmaceutics, chemicals, food, beverages and condiments.1 Current Patent Law The Patent Law of the Peopleââ¬â¢s Republic of China was adopted at the Fourth Session of the Standing Committ... ...g, 1994) p. 64-65. 3 Brahm, p. 65. 4 Brahm, p.116. 5 Brahm, p. 110-111. 6 Brahm, p. 111. 7 Brahm, 17. 8 China Daily Online, IN BRIEF (Page: 3, Date: 04/22/2003), <http://www1.chinadaily.com.cn/cndy/2003-04-22/112904.html> 9 Noah J. The advertising world Essay
The youths are highly influenced when they hit their transitional period from adolescence to the teenage years. They are dealing with the changes in their bodies and minds. Businesses are cashing in on the ability to target these children with their products; companies have focused advertising their products to young girls. The advertising world is also using younger models to sell their products. They are using the youth to sell anything from candy to underwear for their companies. The federal government should ban advertisers from allowing young girls to model as grown women. Advertising companies has used women to model as early back as the 1890ââ¬â¢s The ideal of a beautiful woman has changed over the decades. Women and young girls look at magazines, movies, and movie stars and they desire to look like them. This may not be a problem for some women, but it has become a problem for the young girls today. The advertising world should be limited to how the youths are used in advertising. The writer remembers a story, which was overseas, a young model about ten years old was hired to model underwear, and she had on so much make up that it made her look like she was in her twenties, and she was wearing underwear that was for a grown woman. Neither the make-up nor the underwear was appropriate for this young girl to wear and/or to be advertising for other young girls to want to purchase. Young girls should not be exploited in this manner. A lot of young girls have a negative body image of themselves. When they desire to be something or somebody, they are not can or will cause the girls to develop eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia or binge eating. The young girls want to be beautiful and thin because of the ideal body image that the advertising world is demonstrating in their ads, this how they are supposed to look to be accepted within a glamorous world. The perception of a better life is you are beautiful and thin. Most people are aware of anorexia, and bulimia is eating disorders were a person eats food, and then they use laxatives or force themselves to vomit to become and stay thin. The person who has anorexia or bulimia sees themselves as fat, and they may be very thin. Most people, such as the writer have not heard of binge eating as an eating disorder. Our nation is concerned as being obese. The writer has not heard of binge eating being explained as a cause for some people may be overweight. On the House of Thin website, it talked about binge eating and suggested there is help for these people through a support group. Another eason why advertisers should not use young girls to model as grown women, they put all this make-up on a young girl and have them pose as if they are grown women. There are predators out in the world, and young girls are their targets. The writer believes young girls should look like young girls (youthful and innocent appearance) and should not look like grown women, there may be less of this problem. There are numerous website that is exploiting young girls in various ways. The writer was in disbelief while doing my research. The police are also online looking for these predators of the children. Advertising is big business, and our nation operates on a Capitalism system. The writer likes, the statement from our textbook, ââ¬Å"Citizens are entitled to protection from harmful actions by othersâ⬠(Lunsford 2010). Using young girls to advertise merchandise like they are grown women is a harmful action. Body image and the media has become big business at the expense of the youth. The children are not happy with themselves, and parents are allowing this to happen. When is enough, enough? Stop exploiting our children for the price of a dollar. Adults have the responsibility to ensure children keep their innocence, and children donââ¬â¢t become an adult before their time. Children must be talked to about themselves, and children should be encouraged to increase their self- esteem. A positive and nurturing environment is what children need to help fight the advertising world. The writer knows that advertising to the young is not going to change overnight, just like the problem didnââ¬â¢t start overnight. Parents do have a voice and can make a change within our households. Parents also need to be aware of what their child is doing. Growing up back in the 60-70ââ¬â¢s children was always watched by somebody, whether it was a teacher, parent, family member or just the neighbor. Somebody was involved with the children; parents need to become more involved. Today, adults lead a very busy life, demands on the job, making sure to work hard and not make mistakes for fear of losing a job. The time invested in the children will make difference. The influence of the television, magazines, movie stars or their peers on the youth we will have more and more youth with eating disorders and vulnerable to predators. The United States economic system is a Capitalistic and people will say that the advertiser has the right to make money. People can argue that the parents are responsible for managing their children spending habits. Base on a survey in 1994; found that 40% of 9 years old have been on a diet (Derenne, and Beresin). Parents should limit the amount of time children are exposed to various forms of media. Monitoring the children and talking about what the children are seeing is another method to use with media. Parents are not responsible, and the federal government needs to look out for the well-being of the youth. Every society has a way of torturing its, women, whether by binding their feet or by sticking them into whalebone corsets. The American culture has come up with its designer jeans (Derenne, and Beresin). Nothing else can say it better than this statement.

Resilience A Persuasive History Of Psychiatry - 1000 Words
LITERATURE REVIEW Resilience has a persuasive history in psychiatry. It began with the development studies focused on children that performed well despite the adverse family circumstances (Werner Smith, 1992).Subsequently plethora of literature was generated in the health domain, focusing on the effects of resilience for muddling through the harrowing situations. It was professor Fred Luthans who introduced the concept of individual resilience in the domain of positive psychology via the core concept of psychological Capital (Luthans et al., 2004). Domain of Resilience The genesis of individual resilience is found in two bodies of literature: the psychological aspects of coping and the physiological aspects of stress (Tusaie Dyer, 2004). Psychological resilience is concerned with behavioural adaptation, usually defined in terms of internal states of well-being or effective functioning in the state of risk and instability. From Psychological and development perspective it is considered that resilience grows and extends over time. It is argued as a set of traits (Jacelon, 1997), a process (Olsson et al., 2003) or an outcome (Vinson, 2002), that abates the downbeat effects of stress and fosters adaptation. Simultaneously it is also considered as a common physiological characteristic of human organs and tissues that facilitates them in enduring and recuperating from an injury (Manji and Duman, 2001). The Significance of Gender Roles in Shakespeares The...
Gender roles are undeniably a fundamental topic of critique in literature, particularly since expected gender roles have evolved in recent years. More importantly, the transcendence of these gender expectations indicates the possibility for transformation and increasing liberation in society. History explores many different stages for the sexes and their respective roles, from traditional anti-feminist times in which certain roles were strictly enforced, to more modern beliefs entailing free will and a lack of restrictions. In spite of this progress, there are always those who expedite the process while there are others that hinder development from occurring, even when it is necessary. Literary works in particular serve as a showcaseâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In fact, in a crucial commentary Margaret Wilkerson notes that ââ¬Å"the timelessness of the play has not diminishedâ⬠(Wilkerson 442) due to the way in which it addresses certain key issues of humanity. In this pla y, the young woman, Beneatha, is relentless in her efforts to attend medical school and become a successful doctor. Not only is she crossing preconceived gender boundaries by desiring a respectable occupation, but Beneatha is also rising above expectations of her race by her insistence on acquiring a higher education even during a time of unequal rights. With special regards to the expected compliance and obedience from the women in these plays, gender roles are less predictable since the plays involve characters that rise above social gender boundaries. This is achieved by acting out of the ordinary and ultimately revealing the truth that there are always those who are ahead of their time and that exceptions exist even within the frame of gender roles. In specific regards to obedience, Katherineââ¬â¢s forthright nature and defiance of her father clearly put her ahead of her time in The Taming of the Shrew. Since women were supposed to act subservient and dutiful to their mal e counterparts such as their fathers and husbands, Katherine undermines this belief by simply being unpleasant. Not only is Katherine referred to as ââ¬Å"curst Katherineâ⬠(1.2.185), but she is also the

Life Lessons Ive Learned from Baking Essay Example For Students
Life Lessons Ive Learned from Baking Essay To be a good cook you have to have a love of the good, a love of hard work, and a love of creating. Julia Child The peanut butter cookie recipe called for brown sugar. My house was running low on it, but I didnt think much of using the last of it; maybe à ¾ of what I needed. I didnt think mixing white sugar and brown sugar was a good idea, so I decided to just bake the cookies with less sugar then needed. The cookies took almost double the amount of time they were supposed to bake. This was strange, as I had followed all the directions except using the right amount of sugar. After I thought the cookies were ready for eating, I took one. My cookies were a big surprise! I was ready to enjoy sweet, peanut butter cookies, but instead ate a salty cookie with extreme peanut butter flavor. My cookies were a disaster that led me to be more creative, made me venture away from cookbooks to create my own masterpiece. I could control how much of each ingredient was added and make it perfect. Looking for something to cook, I came across a bundle of bananas resting upon our fruit displayà . Maybe I was taken by the bright yellow color, but for whatever reason I chose bananas over oranges, cherries, and grapes. I still was craving dessert. I suddenly thought of cinnamon and sugar. I decided to use the stove and put bananas in cinnamon and sugar. Everyone in my home looked at me funny, perhaps they thought my creation was odd. They however tried the banana stir fryà . They thought it was delicious. I believe it was a masterpiece, my masterpiece, and my cure to feeling sad about my disastrous peanut butter cookies. Cooking has meaning to me, especially as it helped me recuperate in a difficult time of my life. After my parents got divorced, many of typical family chores were left upon me as the older sister. Both of my parents worked long hours, so I found myself home watching my younger sister a lot of the time. Cooking became a responsibility for me, even if it was just simply making pasta or tossing a salad. I love cooking, as it has helped me grow and learn my responsibilities. Starting cooking at a younger age, I liked following strict recipes. I wasnt sure how to tweak and edit a recipe yet, so instead I liked following a recipe from a cookbook or even online. At that time in my life, things were confusing as many changes occurred. Even though following a recipe was simple, it still gave me a sense of togetherness. At that time in my life, I lacked certainty, as the divorce was confusing and I switched homes frequently. At the end of the day, I knew I could follow a recipe and stay on track. I liked being able to set my cooking goals, which was to be able to have dinner ready early so that my sister and I could eat at the same time every night, as that provided certainty to us in a time of confusion. My banana stir-fry makes me realize that failure can turn into achievement. The failure of my cookies led me to realize I could go farther in the kitchen, and come up with something all on my own. Coming up with a recipe on my own led me to a new discovery; something different than anything. Throwing things together can lead to a new discovery. I didnt believe that until this creation was formed. So maybe Im not a professional baker who can make gourmet cupcakes and cookies. I made something thats mine. My work, my creation, my thoughts à ¦all put into one simple meal. My banana stir-fry has taught me to appreciate mistakes. Maybe ill never make delicious peanut butter cookies if I dont follow the recipe. I can still create delicious treats on my own with exploration, time, and uncertainty.
